SHINEMEN is a surprising 24 minute short produced and directed by Kartemquin DVID Fellow Eleva Singleton, which celebrates Chicago treasure, Mr. Bill Williams, a shoeshine technician from Morgan Park, who owns four businesses, has a street named after him and is worth so much to the city of Chicago.
SHINEMEN also features testimonies from Bill Duke, Prof. Randal Jelks, Senator Emil Jones, Prof. George Bailey,
Don Welsh, and artist Martin Soto.
SHINEMEN got rave reviews at the Black Harvest Film Festival at the Gene Siskel Center, was nominated for a Chicago Emmy, and aired on WTTW during Black History Month.
